Travis has spent the last 21 years of his life working in numismatics. Attending his first Whitman Coin Expo as a representative of Bowers & Merena in 2002.

In 2005, he started working for PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) and reported directly to their then president Ron Guth. During his time at PCGS, Travis built the president's numismatic library while training in the receiving and bulk grading departments. 

In the Spring of 2010, Travis began working as an Auction Services Associate with Bowers & Merena, a division of former Fortune 500 Company Spectrum Group International. Later that year B&M merged with Stack’s to become Stack’s Bowers Galleries, cementing the 100-year-old numismatic firm as the country’s premier numismatic auction house. 

During the 10+ years at Stack’s Bowers, Travis held the following titles in succession: Auction Services Representative, Auction Services Manager, Director of Operations & Software Development Lead. In 2013 Travis’s team sold the then record breaking $10 million coin.

In late 2020, he left Stack’s Bowers Galleries to later found Coinfully with his brother Wyatt McDonald. 

After a lifetime in the rare coin business Travis believed that via a modern approach to rare coin appraisals, Coinfully could provide the primary way to sell rare coins for the best price, all through a simple zero-pressure online appraisal.
